Plaza Mayor
Plaza Mayor

This square is magical at any time of the day or night. Undoubtedly, one of the most beautiful squares in Spain and one of the most important baroque monuments in the peninsula.

Declared as National Monument in 1935, in the technical and artistic justification it is stated that it is "the most decorated, proportioned and harmonious square among all the ones of its time in Spain ". It has 88 arches and numerous carved medallions.

Still today, the main events of the city are celebrated here, as it has been through the times: bullfights, processions and even executions came to happen in the Plaza Mayor. Therefore, some owners of the houses rented their balconies to spectators at a rather high price.
