Salamanca is a city committed to the environment and sustainability. As such, this year once again it will be participating in European Mobility Week, which takes place from 16th to 22nd September under the banner “Our streets, our choice”.
At Salamanca Suite Studios we are also highly committed to the environment and sustainability and we would love to be the number one choice for everyone looking to enjoy the city of Salamanca.
The predominance of private cars means that our cities are ever more congested, polluted and noisy; less enjoyable and less healthy. Over the course of European Mobility Week in Salamanca, a series of different activities will be taking place including guided city tours, children’s activities, an exhibition of “green and clean” vehicles, breakfast with pedals, open days at the Museum of Automotive History, trial-bike displays or the traditional free bus service for the ‘In Town Without My Car!’ Day amongst others, all of which are designed to increase awareness of the impact that our urban transport and mobility habits have on quality of life and the environment.
The programme gets under way on Tuesday 16th September with guided sightseeing tours around the city by bicycle.
On Wednesday 17th, green and clean vehicles will take the centre stage, with a display of environmentally-friendly vehicles in the Plaza de los Bandos from 12.00 until 14.00 hrs.
The European Mobility Week activities continue on Thursday 18th with a day focused on Education, when the Local Police will be running a road safety circuit at the CAEM.
Friday 19th sees the “Get on your bike” day and the traditional “breakfast with pedals”.
Over the weekend (20th and 21st), cycling fans can enjoy some fantastic two-wheeled routes around the city’s monuments, a half-marathon and an excursion around the bike lanes.
The highlight of the whole week is sure to be the ‘In Town Without My Car!’ Day on 22nd September, when there will be a free bus service throughout day right across the city.
European Mobility Week is a great initiative to increase awareness of the importance environmentally-friendly and sustainable transport habits. And we love the idea! You can find out more about the event here
Enjoy your weekend!
